The Program
The Senior Leadership Team Ethics Seminar
provides a unique forum for senior executives to
share best practices and best thinking regarding
ethics with peers. This half-day session—Developing
Enterprise Ethics within your Organization—will
be led by R. Edward
Freeman, a professor at The Darden School
and the Institute's Academic Director,
and William Senhauser, Senior Vice President and
Chief Compliance Officer at Fannie Mae, who will
lead a discussion on Building an Ethics and
Compliance Infrastructure.

R. Edward Freeman is the Academic Director of
the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate
Ethics. He is
Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business
Administration at The Darden School and heads Darden's
Olsson Center for Applied Ethics, one of the
world's leading academic centers for the study
of ethics.
A expert recognized by Ethisphere Magazine
as one of the "100
Most Influential People in Business Ethics,"
Freeman has written or edited 10 books on
business ethics, environmental management, and
strategic management. His latest book is
Managing for Stakeholders: Survival, Reputation, and
Success. |

William Senhauser is Fannie Mae's chief
compliance and ethics officer. He is a
member of the Executive Committee, and
reports to the chief operating officer.
Senhauser is responsible for overseeing
the development and implementation of
the company's compliance plans;
developing and promoting the Code of
Conduct; evaluating and investigating
allegations of misconduct; providing
oversight for corporate Anti-Fraud and
Privacy program; and managing Fannie
Mae's regulatory relationships with the
company’s safety and soundness, mission
and fair lending regulators.
Prior to his present appointment,
Senhauser was vice president for
Regulatory Agreements and Restatement,
responsible for carrying out the
company’s obligations under Fannie Mae’s
regulatory agreements. Before that, he
was vice president for Operating
Initiatives, responsible for oversight
of critical company-wide initiatives and
management of special projects for the
chief operating officer. Senhauser
joined Fannie Mae in 2000 as vice
president for Fair Lending.
Before joining Fannie Mae, Senhauser was
the executive director of the Equal
Justice Foundation, a nonprofit advocacy
organization dedicated to protecting the
rights of indigent or otherwise
disadvantaged residents in Ohio.
Previously, he was a senior trial
attorney in the Civil Rights Division of
the U.S. Department of Justice and has
served as both a Special Master and
Mediator in federal class action cases.
Senhauser has a juris doctorate from
Vanderbilt University School of Law and
a bachelor of arts from Dartmouth
College.
