With more than 1,500 Darden alumni (and 36,000 total University of Virginia alumni) in the Washington, D.C., area, the capital region represents the Darden alumni network’s largest base. Darden alumni have established a powerful network in the area’s growing entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, and also play an influential role in the federal government, public policy and lobbying infrastructure in the nation’s capital. Darden’s office and reception space in Rosslyn, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials, is located at the headquarters of Sands Capital Management, founded by Frank Sands Sr. (MBA ’63) and currently led by CEO and Chief Investment Officer Frank Sands Jr. (MBA ’94). Alumni partner with Darden to increase the power of the network in the area and enhance Darden’s role as a thought leader in fields of interest to the region. Darden Alumni Career Services Executive Director Jennifer Coleman is based in the D.C. area to ensure members of Darden’s largest alumni base are maximizing their career opportunities and impact.
