Financial Aid

The Darden School is committed to helping students meet the financial requirements necessary to obtain an MBA. We believe that once students have chosen to attend Darden, financial obligations should not be the primary concern. Instead, students should be able to spend their two years here focusing on their Darden experience.

For domestic students, applying for financial assistance at the University of Virginia is a two-step process. Incoming students must apply to the Federal Government and University of Virginia's Student Financial Services Office for federal loan consideration. Federal loan programs require that the applicant be a U.S. citizen or a Permanent Resident. For international students, there are several merit-based scholarships available as well as student eligibility for third party loans.

Types of Darden Financial Aid

The Darden financial aid program assists students in meeting the cost of earning an MBA through a combination of school-based scholarships, in addition to federally guaranteed loans.

Darden First Year Scholarship Committee

Most Darden School Scholarships and Fellowships unless otherwise noted are awarded by a faculty committee.  The Darden First Year Scholarship Committee is composed of 3 teaching faculty members: Peter Rodriguez, Paul Simko and June West; along with two administrative faculty members:  Sara Neher, the Director of Admissions; and Larry Mueller, the Director of Financial Aid.

The sources of Darden scholarships are school unrestricted funds, gifts and bequests of alumni, and annual gifts from companies and corporations.
