Biography

Matthias Hild teaches in the Quantitative Analysis area at Darden. His research covers both the theoretical and behavioral aspects of decision making and spans across risk management, decision analysis, social choice theory, and statistics. His recent research projects include the allocation of resources to competing space missions by auction mechanism, the allocation of donor organs to transplantation patients, the prediction of consumer preferences based on boundedly rational models of behavior, and the development of a novel statistical method for inferences from spare data.

Prior to joining the Darden faculty in 2002, Hild was a Senior Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology and at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (2000-2002), Adam Smith Visiting Chair in Philosophy and Economics at the University of Bayreuth (2001-2002), and Research Fellow at Christ's College, Cambridge (1997-2000).
