Darden's Entrepreneurial Concept Competition
The primary purpose of the Entrepreneurial Concept Competition is to encourage the development of new ventures, either for profit or social benefit, by members of the UVA community. New in 2009:
- The Entrepreneurial Concept Competition will be a preliminary event for a UVa-wide concept competition. The 1st place winners of individual UVa school department competitions will compete in the final event for the UVa Cup.
- We have changed the name from the Business Concept Competition to the Entrepreneurial Concept Competition to emphasize the intent that socially minded ventures are welcome!
- Entrepreneurial Concept Competitions will be held by schools across UVa, and we encourage UVa students to participate in the competitions held at their own schools. Winners of the Concept Competitions MUST compete in the UVa Cup.
- Students from multiple schools are encouraged to team up and choose which preliminary Entrepreneurial Concept Competition within UVa they wish to compete in.
- UVa alumni may only participate if they team up with current students, staff, or faculty.
Who Can Enter the Competition:
To enter Darden's Entrepreneurial Concept Competition, you must team with or be a current UVa graduate, undergraduate, doctoral, or post-doctoral student, faculty, or staff member. Alumni are also encouraged to participate by partnering with any of the above. Note that "new business ventures" excludes business ventures that have placed in the competition in a previous academic year or already have significant operations from participation in the Darden Business Incubator.
