BioInnovation Course: Biomedical Product Innovation, Design, and Commercialization
This full-semester pilot course (Spring semester, Q3 & Q4) in biomedical product innovation, design, and commercialization is designed to foster innovative, hands-on collaboration across disciplines to identify and frame clinically based challenges at the UVA health center. Consider taking this course if you have a strong interest in the life sciences and a bent towards innovative problem-solving. Students will identify then design a solution to a real medical business challenge in collaboration with graduate students from UVA's School of Nursing, School of Architecture, School of Medicine, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Darden School of Business.
Specific BioInnovation course topics include: market needs; market research; product innovation and design; intellectual property and licensing opportunities and constraints; and the regulatory process and its impact on technology design.
