Pre-matriculation Requirement:
MBA for Executives
Students in the Darden executive MBA class come from a variety of functional, experiential and educational backgrounds. While this diversity adds significantly to the learning experience, there are some fundamental skills and vocabulary that all students must have prior to the start of classes.
Students must have a common understanding of basic concepts in accounting, decision analysis, global economies and markets, and finance to participate fully in our fast-paced curriculum.
To assure a baseline level of knowledge in the class, all students are required to successfully complete pre-matriculation quizzes that test your understanding in each of these four areas. You must pass each with a score of 70% or higher prior to matriculation in August. You may take the quizzes as often as necessary to achieve a score of 70%.
The complete pre-matriculation program is made available to students once they are offered admissionand consists of:
- A list of accounting, finance, economics and decision analysis concepts you should understand in order to hit the ground running in August.
- A list of resources for reviewing or learning these concepts. If you are familiar and comfortable with the concepts in any of the areas, you may be able to pass the quiz without specific preparation.
- The quizzes themselves. The quizzes include explanations for each question. If you answer a question incorrectly, you will receive the correct answer, an explanation and a reference to resources you can use to brush up on the concept before attempting the quiz again. You can also access the resources just to get more comfortable with the material before school begins.
To date, we have not had a single student delay the start of the program due to their inability to successfully complete this program requirement.
