Darden Days for Admitted Students

How better to learn about the Darden School of Business than to visit for a couple of days? That’s what a group of guests will do when Darden Days kicks off Friday at the School.

Approximately 200 admitted students and their guests will begin the weekend activities by attending a faculty panel on Friday morning, followed by a mock case study.

“We think it is very important for the admitted students to interact with the faculty right from the very start as the faculty plays such an important role in the decision making process as well as in the overall student experience,” said Whitney Kestner, Darden’s associate director of Admissions.

Afterwards, Peter Kiernan (MBA ‘79), a member of the Board of Trustees of the Darden School Foundation, will address the students. A housing fair – the Charlottesville Living Fair – will occur during lunch to showcase life in Charlottesville.

In the afternoon, break-out sessions will address topics such as student life and careers. On Friday night, the Darden community will head to the King Family Vineyards for the annual barbecue and bluegrass dinner.

Saturday morning, Dean Robert F. Bruner will present “The Darden Difference” to admitted students in the Abbott Center Auditorium. Subsequent “The Case for Darden” sessions –  on sustainability, entrepreneurship, summer preparation, leadership and international opportunities – will give students a deeper understanding of the complete Darden experience.

The “End of the Year Picnic” will wrap up Darden Days on Saturday in Flagler Court. Second Year student and guitarist Trammell Summers will perform.

Several corporate sponsors help make Darden Days possible:  Navy Federal Credit Union, Danaher, Unum, BB&T, and Pepsi.

Founded in 1955, the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business improves society by developing principled leaders in the world of practical affairs.
