Two Darden Classmates Remembered

1977 benchThe Darden Class of 1994 on Friday dedicated a bench in the Saunders Garden of the Flagler Courtyard in the names of two classmates who died in 2007 – Lindsay Perkins and Rob Scavello. The class wished to commemorate the lives of these two “amazing men whom we treasured as our classmates, friends and colleagues,” said Tamara de Dios, class secretary for the class of 1994 and organizer of the dedication.

In attendance were Scavello’s wife Kate, de Dios’ husband Jorge (also class of 1994), Darden trustee and classmate Trip Davis, Dean Robert Bruner, Professors Robert Carraway and Dick Brownlee, Vice President of Alumni Relations Michael Woodfolk and other 1994 classmates. Kate Scavello

De Dios said the idea for the dedication occurred when she and her class were at their 15th Reunion here last April. It struck them that Perkins and Scavello were really gone, and they decided they wanted to do something to remember them in a permanent way.

The group toasted Perkins and Scavello with coffee, de Dios citing Darden’s First Coffee tradition as “what drew me to Darden.” She then saluted the two men, saying they “will always be remembered at Darden.”
