The Darden School Foundation
Mission Statement
The Darden Graduate School of Business improves society by developing principled leaders for the world of practical affairs. To accomplish this, we:
- Embrace a rigorous and collaborative approach to learning that inspires informed judgement, decisive action, and a global, enterprise perspective;
- Create knowledge that advances managerial practice, pedagogical excellence, and thought leadership;
- Build enduring relationships that motivate and sustain growth in people and organizations; and
- Foster a diverse community that broadens understanding and elevates performance
Overview
The supportive relationship between the School and the Darden School Foundation began with the initiative of business leaders who, under the guidance of former University President Colgate W. Darden, Jr., secured the initial endowment funds necessary to found the school in the early 1950's. The Foundation is an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation incorporated on December 29, 1952.
Today, the Foundation manages endowment funds for the exclusive benefit of the Darden School, operates the School’s top-ranked executive education program, and promotes philanthropic support by alumni, friends, and corporations. An elected Board of Trustees manages the Foundation’s affairs and gives time and advice providing an important link between the academic and business communities.
