Academics

Darden Classroom

The Darden academic experience is centered around a general management curriculum taught through the case method. General management is both the mastery of all elements of business, from accounting to operations, communications to ethics, politics to finance, and the ability to see strategically across all functions. Truly excelling in business requires a thorough understanding of not only how every department in a company runs itself, but also how it interrelates to all other departments. Darden’s First Year program provides students with a solid foundation in global business leadership. The integrated curriculum—wherein the same or similar cases are used in several different courses and more than one discipline—illustrates how all areas work together and influence one another. The Second Year of the MBA program allows students to choose from over 100 electives to explore new possibilities and develop more depth in chosen areas of expertise. Whatever your chosen career path, Darden’s general management curriculum will equip you to be the best at it, enabling you to make well-thought-out decisions that are in the best interest of the organization as a whole.
