The Kindle DX Pilot Project at Darden

Photo courtesy of Amazon In May 2009, Amazon selected Darden to participate in a pilot education project using the new Amazon DX wireless electronic reader.

The Kindle DX Pilot Project at Darden will launch in August of 2009 and will involve one section of First Year MBA students selected at random from the full-time MBA program. The section will receive Kindle DX e-readers and will use them throughout the 2009-2010 school year to access textbooks, case studies, newspapers and other learning materials.

The program will test and assess how the Kindle DX can:

  • Enhance teaching and learning in the MBA program
  • Contribute to environmental sustainability by advancing toward a paperless classroom
  • Lead to potential cost savings for schools and students
  • Promote effective applications of technology in higher education

Darden will participate in the trial program with six other schools from around the United States, including Arizona State University, Case Western Reserve University, Pace University, Princeton University, Reed College, and University of Washington's Foster School of Business.
