Murphy Center's Northern Virginia Center and
The Batten
Institute.
| John May, a
Batten Fellow, is Director
of the Northern Virginia Initiative. Since 1997, he has been the
managing partner of
New Vantage
Group (NVG), a Virginia based firm that creates
innovative channels to direct private equity into early
stage companies. He is
the co-author of Every Business Needs an Angel
and is co-editor of State of the Art: An
executive briefing on Cutting-Edge practices in American
Angel Investing. He
is a board member of the Mid-Atlantic Venture
Association, the Angel Capital Association, and the
National Collegiate Investors & Innovators Alliance.
John earned a B.A. from Earlham College and received his
M.A. from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. E-mail

Faith J. Rubenstein is
the Associate Director of the Tayloe Murphy Centers Northern Virginia office. Prior to assuming her Northern Virginia position,
she served as a Research Associate at the Darden Graduate School of Business
Administration. She is the author of numerous
case studies and two books including The Political Economy of Trade. Faith has
more than 15 years of professional research experience, including eight years at
the Darden School. She earned a B.A. from the
