Background

Bio: Jerry Goodstein is a professor of management and decision sciences at Washington State University, Vancouver. Prior to arriving at Washington State in 1990, he was an assistant professor of business administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Goodstein teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in business ethics and strategy formulation and organizational design. He has taught a short course on business ethics for the University of Oregon Applied Information Management Master’s Degree Program and has conducted workshops for community leaders on ethical decision making in the workplace. He also has provided consulting services for the Catholic Healthcare Association and serves on the ethics committee for Southwest Washington Medical Center.
Professor Goodstein is currently involved in theory development and empirical research that draws on the domains of corporate governance, business and health care ethics, and institutional theory. His work has been published in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Business Ethics Quarterly, HEC Forum, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Clinical Ethics, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal. He is a reviewer for the Academy of Management Review. He has been a guest editor of the Academy of Management Journal and served on its editorial board from 1995 to1999, and since 1996 he has been on the editorial board of Administrative Science Quarterly.
Professor Goodstein received his Ph.D. in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Both his bachelor’s degree in economics and geography and his M.B.A. are from the University of California at Los Angeles.
