2013 Darden Global Economic Forum


The Darden School of Business will host a Global Economic Forum on 10 May 2013 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Shanghai for leaders in the Shanghai business community and Darden alumni.  The event will begin with a discussion of the global economy led by Robert F. Bruner, dean of the Darden School of Business, and Peter Rodriguez, Darden’s senior associate dean for degree programs.  Darden Professor Dennis Yang will then moderate a panel discussion with Chinese business leaders on China’s economy.

The event will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World.

Jun Ma  

Jun Ma is Managing Director, Chief Economist for Greater China, and Head of China/Hong Kong Strategy with Deutsche Bank. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2000, Jun worked as economist and senior economist at the International Monetary Fund and World Bank from 1992-2000. From 1988-1990, Jun was an Economic Research Fellow at the Development Research Center of China's State Council. Jun has published seven books and several hundred articles on the Chinese economy, global economy, and financial markets. Jun was frequently invited by government agencies for policy discussion.

In recent years, Jun was frequently rated at the top in his fields, including the No.1 Asia economist and the No.1 China analyst in Institutional Investor's (2009-2011), the No 1. Economist in Asia by Thomson-Reuters' 2009 Asia Survey, the No. 1 Asia economist by Asia Money in 2010 and 2011, as well as many No. l rankings in China economics and China strategy. He was also named the "best economic forecaster" by Sohu Finance in 2010.

Jun Zhang

Professor Jun Zhang is Chang-Jiang Professor of Economics at Fudan University and Director of the China Center for Economic Studies. Prof. Zhang is a respected economist and commentator on Chinese economy who publishes dozens of articles in economics annually, and speaks regularly on Chinese TV stations. He has also been interviewed frequently by public media worldwide such as New York Times, BBC, Financial Times, and South China Morning Post. His recent academic contributions have been to The World Economy, China Economic Review, Journal of Asian Economics, Economic Systems, and the Journal of Asia Pacific Economy.

Professor Zhang is a seasoned speaker who shares with his audience in-depth analysis on the Chinese economy, including topics related to China's growth, institutional transformation, and economic policies. Over the past decade he has been invited to speak at many high profile events like J-China Forum, Global Financial Forum, The Economist Conference Shanghai Roundtable, and Shanghai Forum.

Lin Zhou  

Professor Zhou Lin assumed the Deanship of Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University since April 2010. He received Bachelor degree from Fudan University in 1982, and Ph.D. degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1989. He had teaching experiences at Yale University, Duke University, Arizona State University, City University of Hong Kong, and Tsinghua University.

In 2006, Prof. Zhou was granted the Chang Jiang Scholar by Ministry of Education of China. He was elected Fellow of World Econometric Society in 2009 and is the first scholar in China being granted this award. Before serving as the Dean of Antai College, Prof. Zhou was the previous Dean of School of Economics of Antai College and the Deputy Dean of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
