Gary Evans is founder and President of Axcel Innovation, a consulting and program management company focussed on the commercialization of scientific research and on the development of regional and national economies through the creation and growth of science and engineering-based businesses. He is also the founder of Liquid Knowledge, a company developing new approaches to the dissemination of information among communities of specialists.
Evans is a seasoned entrepreneur with experience spanning Europe, the US and the Middle East. He has been involved in the creation of eleven companies, ranging from software to medical devices, serving as CEO, Chairman or board member with each. He has also been involved in the creation of various investment operations and has been responsible for seed and early stage investments in both Europe and the US. He has also held academic positions at the University of Cambridge and the Robert Gordon University in the UK.
Evans holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Newcastle in England and a Diploma in Management Science from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a member of the UK Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Chemical Society, and is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Management. He is also a member of the International Economic Development Council and sits on their International Committee.
