Biography

After over 30 years of a successful career in corporate and not-for-profit, Terry de Guzman founded The Next Step Coaching and Consulting Services. Service offerings include executive leadership and career/life coaching; as well as strategic financial and operational consulting. Her clients include the Harvard Business School, the Darden Business School and the University of Virginia. 

Terry's coaching and consulting expertise comes from her own executive and professional experiences as a practicing leader. She held the positions of Finance Manager at American Express, Principal at Kwasha Lipton and Division CFO at Bellcore. She successfully transitioned to not-for-profit leadership as COO at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, then as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business. 

Terry is known for her innate ability to help others develop and grow, and enabling them to take “The Next Step”. Her life and career has been defined by her commitment to help others achieve sustainable and fulfilling careers and lives. Aspiring to inspire others to lead from where they are, Terry teaches Global Leadership, and Family Enterprise Management at Darden; as well as Personal Finance at the Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Terry is a CPA, holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business, and completed George Mason University's Leadership Coaching Program. She volunteers for organizations that foster financial literacy, education, and leadership roles for women.
