Biography

Elizabeth Teisberg, a tenured professor, researches, teaches and advises executives on strategy and innovation.

Her book Redefining Health Care, cowritten with Michael E. Porter, analyzes how strategic changes by all participants in the health sector can drive dramatic improvement in value. Professor Teisberg speaks internationally on health care strategy and policy and works with executives and medical leaders in the United States and Europe to redefine health care delivery, develop and implement health strategy for employees, and measure results. Her work includes employers, hospitals, clinicians, health plans, suppliers and policy makers.

Redefining Health Care won the Book of the Year Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives. Professors Teisberg and Porter have developed cases and curriculum for executives, physicians and managers, and they co-teach courses at Harvard. Their shared website is www.hbs.edu/rhc/.

Professor Teisberg also recently won the Wachovia Award for Outstanding Research and the Frederick S. Morton Award for Leadership. She served on three bipartisan health policy advisory boards and is the author of numerous cases and journal articles. Dr. Teisberg is also co-author of The Portable MBA, which has been published in five languages.

Dr. Teisberg holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Stanford University, a Masters in Engineering from University of Virginia, and an AB, summe cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis.
