Darden Private Equity Club 2012-2013 Calendar of Events

  • The Role of M&A in Operating Companies.  Wednesday September 5th 5:30 - 6:00 PM in CR 120.  HBM Holdings will discuss the role of M&A in an operating company.  HBM is hiring MBAs interested in M&A as well as general management and will be attending the SY Networking night following the presentation.  This is a joint event with the Finance Club and the General Management & Operations Club.
  • M&A Execution in the Middle Market.  Wednesday September 26th 5:00 - 6:00 PM in CR 120.  Edgeview Partners, a Charlotte-based investment bank focusing on sellside M&A, will discuss M&A execution in the middle market.  Edgeview is also looking to hire FYs and SYs and, following the event, will host a SY cocktail reception at 7:30 PM at Commonwealth Restaurant & Skybar.  Joint event with the Finance Club.
  • Private Equity 101.  Wednesday October 3rd 4:15 - 5:15 PM in CR 120.  Harris Williams, a middle market investment bank based in Richmond, VA, will present an overview of the private equity industry.  Harris Williams will also host a cocktail reception for interested students following the event and is recruiting FYs and SYs.  Joint event with the Finance Club.
  • PE Recruiting Roadmap and Day in the Life of a PE Professional.  Tuesday October 16th 1:30 - 2:30 PM in CR 130.  DPEC will host a student-led panel discussing the day-to-day responsibilities of a PE professional.  Also, SY students that interned with PE groups will walk through their recruiting process to help students develop a PE recruiting roadmap. 
  • Founding and Managing a PE Group.  Monday November 5th from 1:10 - 2:00 PM in CR 130.  John Fruehwirth from Rotunda Capital will discuss his experience founding and managing a private equity firm. 
  • Trends in Healthcare-focused Private Equity.  Tuesday November 6th from 1:30 - 2:30PM in CR 120.  Mark Pacala from Oakhill Capital will be speaking about his experience advising Oakhill Capital with healthcare-related investments.  Joint event with the Healthcare Club.
  • Search Fund Presentation.  Thursday November 8th 4:15 - 5:45 PM in CR 130.  Pacific Lake Partners, a leading capital provider to search fund entrepreneurs, will discuss the search fund model.  Pacific Lake is actively looking to invest in future search funds and also offers internship opportunities at its portfolio companies.  Joint event with the EVC Club and Finance Club.
  • Mega Buyout Fund Trends in PE.  Monday November 12th 1:30 - 2:30 PM in CR 120.  Greg Ledford from the Carlyle Group will discuss his private equity experiences at Carlyle. 
  • Darden Private Equity Conference 
    • Thursday February 28th: Cocktail reception at Colonnade Club located in Pavilion VII on the West Lawn
