GBE in Israel
The GBE in Israel is a new program that ran for the first time in May 2010. The mix of the course is 60% experiential and 40% academic lectures / cases in class. The focus of the Israel GBE will be on entrepreneurship and innovation in Israel centering on the High Tech Sector in Israel and innovation in a variety of areas from water and agriculture to information technology, medical and bio-tech. As part of the course the students will visit local businesses and meet with government officials. Possible businesses include ISCAR (in the Tefen Industrial zone), Netafim Inc. (Kibbutz Hatzerim), IBM / Intel (in Haifa) and Teva Pharmaceutical as well as visit to two of the Israeli Incubators (for example, Targetech in Netanya and Yeda in the Weizmann Institute). Possible government offices could include: The ministry of industry, trade and labor (including the chief scientist office and the export institute), the ministry of finance, and the ministry of national infrastructure. The lectures will be conducted at the partnering school campus (IDC) by Darden faculty, IDC faculty and Israeli executives.
