Genie was born and raised in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC.  As an undergraduate she attended UNC Chapel Hill where she studied Asian Studies, Political Science, and college basketball (GO HEELS).  After graduation Genie returned to DC and worked in public affairs for UPS and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with a focus on international trade issues.  She then joined the leadership team at Sportrock Climbing Centers to gain firsthand experience running a dynamic business and also worked with Climbfind, a social media start-up.

As a native Virginian, Genie is excited to be a Tar Hoo (Carolina Tar Heel + Virginia Wahoo) and a member of the Darden MBA Class of 2014.  Her favorite things about Darden so far are the faculty, Section D, the case method, her hilarious learning team, and the multiple opportunities to dance.  When she’s not reading cases, Genie also enjoys climbing, cooking, practicing yoga, slacklining, and exploring the Charlottesville music scene.
