This month, the Darden MBA YouTube channel reached one million views and new subscribers continue to sign up regularly to experience Darden through its moving images.
"I viewed YouTube as the public access channel of the Internet," said Gary Peters, post-production manager in Darden Media, during an interview on the Darden BusinessCast. "Google purchased YouTube in late 2006. We examined what they were doing and liked seeing that they were adding channel spaces, especially in the educational market, and were allowing unlimited-length videos. In August of 2007, we were able to start the channel and it's been going like gangbusters ever since.
Videos have become an important way for B-schools to share news, teach lessons and demonstrate how to put ideas into action. Currently host to 754 videos, Darden's MBA YouTube channel features students, faculty, alumni and prominent visitors. Video topics include entrepreneurship, leadership and ethics.
