Tayloe Murphy Resilience Awards Competition

"A finalist or winning business in this competition defines Resilience – the ability to bend but not break, to weather the storm and come out stronger for it, to thrive in the face of adversity. We believe that there are many more businesses like these are the Commonwealth and hope to have the opportunity to share their stories as well." — Gregory B. Fairchild, Executive Director

The Resilience Awards is a statewide competition targeting strong, resilient businesses located in communities facing tough economic conditions. Beating the odds, these businesses and their leaders provide jobs and offer community support while facing challenges that would have made less enterprising leaders give up. If you are leading a business here in Virginia in one of the communities highlighted by the Resilience Awards, we hope that you will consider applying. If you know a business like those described here, please recommend them to us.

The Tayloe Murphy Center Resilience Awards Competition seeks to salute and support winning businesses with

  • Statewide publicity for their business.
  • Introductions to lenders, investors and others in Virginia's business community.
  • Immersion in a free week-long Darden School of Business Executive Education program course.

Applications for the 2011 competition were accepted from May 2nd -- June 30th. Winners will be announced Sept. 7th in the University of Virginia's historic Rotunda.
