Project: "Diversity of Innovators’ Human Capital and the Value of Innovation"Jan Bena is examining how innovation teams’ quantity and
diversity of experience influence the scientific merit and market value of
patents the team generates. He will analyze the evolution of inventors’ patent
filings over their careers and value their latest patents using leading
quantitative and data science methods.Professor Bena earned a Ph.D.
from the London School of Economics. His research focuses on corporate finance
and governance, corporate R&D and innovation, and finance and product
market competition. It appears in major journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial
Economics, and Review of Financial Studies.

Project: "What Kind of
Village Fosters Entrepreneurs’ Venture Development?"
Siobhán O’Mahony will investigate how entrepreneurial ecosystems impact entrepreneurs’ ideas for the creation and evolution of new ventures.
Specifically, she will look more closely at how local ecosystems influence
entrepreneurs’ iteration around the initial venture ideas and how that
iteration affects the ventures’ development. This study will rely on the
experiences of entrepreneurs who have graduated from accelerator programs.

University, O’Mahony teaches two popular electives: "Design Thinking and
Innovation" and "Organizing for Innovation." Much of her work examines how
innovative projects manage the tension between maintaining open, participatory
and pluralistic organizing approaches and preserving project boundaries,
purpose and mission. O’Mahony’s work
has been published in the top journals in her field and edited volumes. She has
provided expert testimony on innovation to the European Union, the National
Academy of Science and Engineering, and the National Science Foundation. She is
a member of the editorial boards of Administrative
