Virtual Sessions
The Darden School of Business is a thriving community of MBA students, faculty and alumni from a diverse array of racial, ethnic, religious, cultural, socio-economic and sexual orientations.

The Darden Diversity Conference is an opportunity for prospective students to experience how Darden embraces and celebrates diversity and inclusion, and it has a special focus for prospective students from diverse backgrounds, including women, LGBTQ and members of domestic under-represented racial or ethnic communities. 

During the multi-day virtual event, participants will be able to:

  • Participate in a mock case
  • Get to know Darden's affinity clubs
  • Meet Diversity, Equity and Inclusion faculty and staff
  • Connect with members of the Darden community
  • Network with employers and alumni 
  • Learn more about life at UVA and Charlottesville  

Application Process

The 2020 Diversity Conference application is now open. Interested in applying to attend the virtual conference? Start an application. Space is limited to guarantee meaningful conversations and interactive online participation. 
The application cannot be started and saved for a later time. Please ensure that you have your resume, short-answer question and any other necessary information ready prior to getting started.

Applications must be received by 31 August 2020, 12:00 p.m. Eastern. 

  • Benefits for Applicants

    Conference attendees planning to apply for matriculation Fall 2021 will be guaranteed a virtual interview with a member of Darden's Admissions committee. On your Diversity Conference application, please indicate the round in which you intend to apply (Early Action, Round 1, etc.). If selected to attend the Diversity Conference, you will receive additional information about scheduling your interview in the weeks leading up to the event.

    Attendees will also receive:

    • 1:1 mentoring with current students
    • Application fee waiver for attendees applying directly to Darden
    • Some meals provided through UberEats

  • Event Highlights

    This multi-day virtual event will feature:

    • Full case experience with Darden faculty, including case prep in learning teams led by current students
    • Diversity sessions facilitated by leading faculty and staff, including:
      • Celebrating and Supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Darden
      • Demystifying the Darden Application and Interview
      • Financing and Scholarship Opportunities available through the Forte Foundation, ROMBA and Consortium
      • Affinity club events and receptions
      • Current student and alumni panels

    The 2020 Diversity Conference schedule will be finalized in late August. As the event will be fully virtual, the planning team will take into consideration the impacts of work schedules and time zones for the event attendees. ROMBA’s Pre-MBA Admissions Summit is tentatively planned for Saturday, 3 October – we will ensure that the Diversity Conference sessions will not overlap with ROMBA programming so attendees will be able to attend both.
