Competitions organized by the Batten Institute
The Batten Institute partners with leading companies to host case competitions that connect top student talent with real-world business challenges. Past partners have included SZNS/Google, Tower Strategy, and [insert others as needed]. Competitions span industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, athletics, and public policy, [adjust as needed]. Teams tackle timely, high-impact issues, developing strategic solutions that leverage emerging technologies.
Past student projects:
- Data Center Intelligence Terminal: an agentic platform that could compress years of site selection and permitting into a fraction of the time.
- TrialOS: a tool reimagining clinical trial data operations from the ground up, with a pipeline that takes sites from raw data to regulatory readiness.
- A Promising [Cav] Future: UVA Athletics’ NIL Opportunity, an athlete-first strategy, dedicated engagement and data-driven ROI (with AI-enabled sponsor matching).
- Cav Futures: Where NIL Meets Purpose, a roadmap from first-movers quick wins to revenue diversification and a community-first strategy.
Batten Strategic Competition Initiative
The Batten Strategic Competition Initiative (BSCI) provides funding to support student participation in competitions in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology. BSCI is supported by the Batten Institute which serves to advance novel approaches, ideas and ventures that unleash human potential to deliver great products, launch impactful careers and help solve our biggest challenges.
