Professor Saras D. Sarasvathy is the recipient of many awards for her contributions to research, teaching and the practice of entrepreneurship. Some of her most notable accolades include:

2023  The Schumpeter Lecturer at the SME Assembly, the most significant event for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe. An invitation from the European Commission to deliver the prestigious Schumpeter “Innovation in Enterprise” Lecture is an honor bestowed on leading figures in the field of entrepreneurship.

2022  The Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research, the highest recognition for research in the field of entrepreneurship awarded by the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum and the Research Institute of Industrial Economics.

2019  Legacy Award from the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC).

2017  Academy of Management’s Foundational Paper Award, for “Causation and Effectuation: Toward a Theoretical Shift from Economic Inevitability to Entrepreneurial Contingency” (2001) published in the Academy of Management Review.

2015  Mead-Colley Faculty Award from the University of Virginia for teaching excellence.

2013  Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, Babson College

2007  Named one of the top 18 professors in the field of entrepreneurship by the former Fortune Small Business magazine.
