• The Institute for Business in Society collaborates with a variety of organizations to address issues in business and society. An interdisciplinary approach is used to solve problems and work with practitioners from an array of backgrounds. These collaborations help the Darden School of Business reach a larger audience and effect positive change on a greater scale.

    External Partnerships

    APCO Worldwide

    The Institute for Business in Society is the academic partner on the Champion Brand project. The survey and data focus on the world's best-known companies and their brand strategies as they relate to their stakeholders. APCO Worldwide is an independent global communication, stakeholder engagement and business strategy firm with offices in more than 30 major cities throughout the world.


    The Institute for Business in Society has joined forces with Concordia to hold the first P3 Impact Awards to honor the world's best public-private partnerships. Concordia is an organization that seeks to enhance the scale and effectiveness of public-private partnerships. Each year, Concordia hosts the Concordia Summit, which convenes over 400 of the world's most prominent business, government and nonprofit leaders.

    Conscious Capitalism

    The Institute for Business in Society is an academic sponsor of the annual Conscious Capitalism Summit. Conscious Capitalism is a nonprofit organization representing corporations dedicated to the four principles of higher purpose, stakeholder orientation, conscious leadership and conscious culture. Professor R. Edward Freeman serves as a director of Conscious Capitalism Inc.

    Council on Better Business Bureaus 

    The Institute for Business in Society is co-sponsoring a one-of-a-kind conference bringing together corporate leaders, executives, thought leaders, legislators and regulators to build self-regulatory programs to reduce business risk, increase customer engagement and protect consumer interests. The Council of Better Business Bureaus is the network hub for BBBs in the U.S. and Canada.

    U.S. Department of State Secretary's Office of Global Partnerships

    The Institute for Business in Society partners with the U.S. Department of State Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships to recognize and honor leading public-private partnerships that improve communities and the world. Current initiatives include the P3 Impact Awards, honoring top public-private partnerships at the Concordia Summit, as well as helping to promote Global Partnerships Week, which recognizes the critical role that public-private partnerships play in promoting diplomacy and development around the world through a week-long series of global, national and local events.

    Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics

    The Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics is an independent entity established in partnership with Business Roundtable — an association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. companies — to renew and enhance the link between ethical behavior and business practice.

    Olsson Center for Applied Ethics

    An international leader in the field of business ethics, the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics serves as a critical resource for executives, scholars, students and Darden alumni who are faced with the challenges of integrating ethical thinking into business decision-making.

    Student Organizations

    The Institute for Business in Society works with student organizations at the Darden School to bring business in society content into the classroom, support events and host speakers. The institute sponsors the annual Business in Society Conference, where several student clubs such as Business & Public Policy, Net Impact, Emerging Markets Development, Energy, Education and Health Care organize topical panel discussions on current issues facing MBA graduates.
