Inspired by the intellectual gatherings of 17th-century France, the Salon Series will create a consistent forum for exploring topics and themes of interest to the Institute. Each month, faculty, researchers, and thought leaders come together for discussions surrounding AI that invite collaboration and insight from the broader UVA community.

Women in Data Science (WiDS) Charlottesville 2025

WiDS Charlottesville is independently organized by the University of Virginia School of Data Science to be part of the mission to increase participation of women in data science and to feature outstanding women doing outstanding work. This year's event will include panel discussions with industry experts, skills workshops, research lightning talks, resume reviews, and keynote. WiDS Charlottesville is a free event that will be held at the School of Data Science, and all genders are welcome to attend. Additional program and speaker details to follow.

Fellowship in AI Research (FAIR) Symposium

The Symposium featured presentations from last year's fellowship recipients, Tom Hartvigsen and Mona Sloane, who are principal investigators leading research on critical topics on ethical AI in business. The half-day event brought together academic researchers and those who are active or interested in the applications and implications of ethical AI in business. UVA Conference on Leadership in Business, Data and Intelligence
5-6 December 2024 | The Forum Hotel, UVA Darden School of Business, Charlottesville
This second annual conference hosted by UVA Darden and organized in partnership with the UVA School of Data Science examined "The Value Chain of Ethical AI." Academics and practitioners explored where AI is headed over the next five years, the opportunities and risks businesses face, and how, as responsible leaders in business, we can navigate these “once in a generation” times.
