Reunion

In alignment with University guidelines regarding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), as shared by President Jim Ryan, we will suspend all events involving more than 100 people, which includes Darden Reunion Weekend, scheduled for 24–26 April. Our reunion team is already making plans for a wonderful weekend in Charlottesville on 23-25 October 2020. More details will be announced soon.

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan shared an update on the University’s response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This announcement has widespread implications for the University — and for Darden. Please see this website for the note Dean Scott Beardsley sent to faculty, staff and students, and information on what the news means for Darden, its programs, people and operations.

Darden Reunion is an important tradition, and we know that this news is disappointing and frustrating, especially for those who have already made travel arrangements. We deeply regret any inconvenience or incurred cost resulting from this change and hope that we will see you in the fall.

Due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), UVA is taking proactive measures to mitigate the risk of infection and has suspended all University-sponsored events involving more than 100 people. The health, safety and well-being of our alumni and our community members are our top priority. We believe it is in everyone’s best interest to postpone the weekend. You can see more about the University of Virginia’s ongoing response to the outbreak on the University’s new coronavirus website.

Will reunion weekend be rescheduled?

YES! We look forward to welcoming all classes ending in 0s and 5s and the 2019 MBA and Executive MBA classes back to Grounds on 23-25 October 2020. We are currently building a weekend of programming and welcome your input. Please visit your class page and get in touch with your reunion committee leaders if you would like to be involved.

I already registered. Will I receive a refund and how?

All guests will receive a full refund for Darden Reunion Weekend registration fees. Registrants may also choose to convert registration fees into a donation to the Darden Annual Fund, which will count towards class reunion giving and participation totals. Please indicate your preference here. If you paid by credit/debit card, refunds will show up from “The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia” on your statement. If you paid by check, please contact us at [email protected] for a refund. Unfortunately, we are not able to transfer registration fees to any rescheduled events.

I already booked my flight, what should I do?

Many airlines are waiving change fees for travel through 30 April. Delta, American Airlines and United have released statements on their change policies.

Will my hotel room be refunded?

The Inn at Darden will offer full refunds and penalty-free cancellations. Please call +1-434-297-7384 to cancel your hotel room. If you booked through a third-party site (such as Expedia or Priceline), you will need to reach out to the third party directly. If you booked at another hotel, please contact them as soon as possible to inquire about a refund or cancellation.

I signed up for an in-person office hour meeting with Alumni Career Services, can we reschedule?

Yes! If you’d still like to meet with Alumni Career Services, please contact [email protected] to schedule a time to meet with the coach of your choice via phone or video conference.

I would still like to attend Foxfield. Can I still buy my ticket and bus seat through Darden?

No, we will refund all ticket sales as part of reunion registration. The Darden tent at Foxfield has been canceled and we will not be providing transportation. We invite all alumni to join us at the spring Foxfield Races in 2021.

Can I still make a gift in honor of my reunion?

Yes! Any gift or pledge made to Darden during fiscal year 2020 (ending 30 June 2020) will count toward your class reunion giving and participation totals. We look forward to celebrating reunion giving results during the fall reunion.
