Christopher Dobmeier is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where he teaches [courses].

He studies the science of persuasion—in particular, how storytelling, media, and technology conspire to shape what people believe and how they behave. His work has appeared in leading outlets including the Journal of Communication, Health Communication, Communication Theory, Mass Communication and Society, and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.

Dobmeier holds a B.A. and M.A. in Communication from the University at Buffalo and a Ph.D. in Media, Technology, and Society from Northwestern University. His dissertation examines the psychological and communicative underpinnings of parasocial relationships with celebrities and influencers. His thinking has been further shaped by the Northwestern University Center for Leadership Fellowship and the Kellogg School of Management's Management for PhDs Program.

Not himself immune to the power of storytelling, Dobmeier has been equally shaped by storytellers who connected him to the real world—David Attenborough, Hans Rosling, Jane Goodall—and those who constructed entirely new ones—Walt Disney and George Lucas.
