Arabella Pollack is Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Marketing area of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. She joined Darden from Hunter College, City University of New York where she held the positions of Distinguished Lecturer and inaugural Director of Hunter College’s Business Studies program. During this time she developed and taught courses on Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and General Management among other topics. Before Hunter, Arabella led Columbia University’s M.S. program in Strategic Communication, where she taught a range of courses to early-career graduates, part-time students, and executive students, while overseeing program growth and obtaining a top-three ranking for the program for the first time in two national lists. She has also taught multiple executive education programs with the Squadron Officer School at Air University in Montgomery, Alabama.
Arabella transitioned into academia after building a career in consumer products strategy and insights, working for top-tier global companies including the Boston Consulting Group, Diageo, and PepsiCo, and on brands including ABSOLUT vodka, Bath & Body Works, Lancôme, and KIND.
Arabella’s research focuses on new product development and innovation in consumer products companies, and why these initiatives so often fail. Her research has been presented at the annual conferences of the American Marketing Association, Academy of Management, European Group of Organizational Studies, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management Research Forum. Arabella was a Product Development and Management Association Doctoral Consortium Fellow, where she was awarded best research presentation. She has also been recognized with a Best Reviewer award from the Academy of Management.
