Natasha Boreyko holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Michigan. Her research lies at the intersection of empirical corporate finance, financial intermediation, and public finance, with a focus on how financial intermediaries shape borrowing costs, access to capital, and real outcomes. Her current work examines the role of bankers’ human capital in municipal bond underwriting. She shows that bankers create value by processing issuer-specific soft information and connecting issuers to segmented investor networks. This research highlights how individual-level relationships and information frictions can affect public-sector financing conditions. In other work, Natasha studies how institutional investors and financial intermediaries create value for borrowers, including private firms, and generate real outcomes at the neighborhood level.
