Lemuel E. Lewis Bicentennial Award for Global Leadership
The Lemuel E. Lewis Bicentennial Scholars Fund for Global Leadership was established by Lemuel E. Lewis (MBA ’72) in April 2018 to support students at the School who demonstrate global leadership skills. This scholarship supports both a Second Year and a First Year Scholarship awarded to students at the School who have demonstrated interests and activities to bring the Darden community together.
First Year Students
The Office of Admissions will identify and nominate candidates, based on standard criteria for admission to the School, in addition to the specific criteria for this Scholarship. A selection committee that includes student leaders and involves a select group of staff will review and select nominees. The selected applicant will receive notice of the scholarship offer, along with his or her offer of admission.
Second Year Students
The Office of Student Affairs will send out an application for students. Students who apply will be asked to submit responses to essay questions as part of the review process. A staff selection committee will review resumes and essays and selects finalists who are invited to interview for the award. Interviews are conducted by second year student leaders, who will also determine the recipient. The selected recipient will be presented with the award at a special First Coffee ceremony, and be asked to participate in leadership efforts in their second year.
