Doing Business In and With Ireland
DWC Ireland facilitates an exploration of the major cities of Dublin (economic hub) and Galway (cultural hub) with a focus on how the Irish economy has responded to increasing political stability, European-integration and its emergence as major destination for foreign headquarters. We will explore how traditional Irish culture has affected both Irish and foreign companies and led to the creation of unique business models. Through company engagements and cultural tours, students will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the cultural, political, and socioeconomic drivers shaping Ireland’s business environment.
In this course, students will explore:
- The complex interactions between Irish and foreign companies and how they compete for employees, manage foreign direct investment and draw on Ireland’s strategic business position related to Europe and the United Kingdom.
- The impact of tax rates, EU status and political stability on corporate growth.
- How Irish traditional culture informs business operations and contributes to “Brand Ireland."
- The complex interactions between Irish and foreign companies and how they compete for employees, manage foreign direct investment and draw on Ireland’s strategic business position related to Europe and the United Kingdom.
